Delete your account

Delete it in the appCopy Anchor Link

1. Open GreatPing on any phone or tablet in the account.
2. Go to Settings › Delete Account.
3. Read which devices will be signed out and which computers unpaired, and confirm.

The account is closed at once. Every device is signed out, every computer is unpaired, and any question still waiting on a computer is cancelled. Your other devices get a notice that the account was deleted.

Deleting an account removes every device and computer in it, so the device that does it needs to be allowed to remove all of them: it must be the oldest device in the account, or at least 72 hours old. A newer device can still remove itself (Settings › this device › Remove This Device). When the last device leaves, the account is deleted in the same way.

Accounts have no email or password, so there is nothing to sign in with. Instead:

1. On each computer that was paired, run:

   greatping logout

   or greatping uninstall to remove GreatPing from the computer completely. This unpairs the computer on our service.

2. Once the account has no computers and none of its devices has been seen for 30 days, it is deleted automatically.

An account that nothing uses for 12 months is also deleted automatically, 7 days after a notice to its devices.

We cannot delete an account on request by email: an account has no name or email, so nothing in a message can show that it is yours, and acting on one would let anyone delete someone else's account. The steps above are the way to do it. If anything is unclear, write to privacy@greatping.com and we will help you through them.

When an account is deleted, we delete within one hour, at the latest:

• the account and its keys;
• its devices and computers, with their names, settings and last activity;
• all of its alerts, questions and answers;
• its security activity.

What may remain for a whileCopy Anchor Link

• Backups. Our database keeps point-in-time backups to recover from errors for up to 30 days. Deleted data disappears from them after that.
• Usage analytics. If you had turned analytics on, events already sent to our analytics provider stay there under its retention, up to one year. They contain no content or names, only a one-way hash of the account. Write to privacy@greatping.com and we will ask the provider to delete them.
• Your devices. Notifications already shown stay in the notification center until you clear them. Uninstalling the app removes its local data.
• Emails you sent us, as described in the Privacy Policy.
